The mission of the Sisterhood of Nusach Hari B’nai Zion Congregation is to bring together, in friendship, the women of NHBZ to serve our congregation, support our community, and enrich our lives through personal and spiritual growth in the Torah values of our Jewish heritage.

Our activities further our commitment to Jewish ideals, education, spirituality, social action, Zionism, and leadership development.

Wednesday, October 18   Keeping Abreast of Cancer Research

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our Shasheret program will feature a speaker and presentation focusing on this important issue. A Business Meeting will follow when we will vote on officers for 2018.

NHBZ kids will create gifts to present to residents at Brooking Park. Will coordinate future visit to Brooking Park where NHBZ kids will present gifts

and sing Chanukah songs. Event will involve  kids in chesed program and provide intergenerational activity.

Sunday, February 12               From Cuba With Love

12:30 – 2:30 pm     Eliot and Sally Katz, Ben Minoff

Sally and Eliot will present a narrated slide show of their recent trip to Cuba with Ben and his family and others, including visits to synagogues

and a view of Jewish life in Cuba.   Ben will follow, describing his first visit to the country he left as a young boy and what life for him was like

in Cuba. Refreshments and appetizers, beverages and desserts will offer a flair of Cuban cuisine.

Sunday, April 23                Painting Jerusalem

1:00 pm

This event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem and raise funds for Passport to Israel. Participants will each paint their canvas of a Jerusalem site under direction of artists from Me Time Studio. The program will include a presentation about Jerusalem, with special emphasis of the focus of the painting, as well as a presentation about Passport to Israel and the young people NHBZ is currently supporting. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Thursday, May 25

An exhibit and sale of unique Judaica art by Israeli artist, Ellen Miller Braun. Ms. Braun will offer a presentation about her unique artistic style of Micro-calligraphy and how she became involved.  Prices for artwork range from $39 to $400. Join us for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a wonderful art show.
