Sunday, August 11 ~ 2 pm in the HMLC Theater ~ The Holocaust Museum & Learning Center will screen a special film commemorating Tisha B’Av, the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, (12 Millstone Campus Drive, 63146). This date in the Hebrew calendar marks the destruction of both the first and second Temples in Jerusalem and several other tragic events in Jewish history.
Rabbi Ze’ev Smason of Nusach Hari-B’nai Zion Congregation will lead a discussion following the screening of “Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War” a 2016 documentary directed by Ken Burns and Artemis Joukowsky. This film presents the powerful, largely unknown story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, an American minister and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who boldly committed to a life-threatening mission in Europe. Over two dangerous years they helped save dozens of refugees fleeing the Nazi occupation across Europe.
~ This Week’s Torah Trivia ~

Answer: He is rewarded with everlasting life and eventually given the Priesthood. Huge discussion on this.
This Week’s Question: Masai speaks of the cities of refuge. How many were initially established and what was their purpose?
The Three Weeks
The Three Weeks is an annual mourning period that falls out in the summer. We mourn the destruction of the Holy Temple and our launch into a still-ongoing exile. The period began on the 17th of the Hebrew month of Tammuz, a fast day that marks the day when the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the Romans in 69 CE. The Fast of the 17th of Tammuz was observed Sunday, July 21.
