The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is Israel’s largest scientific-technological university. Located in Haifa, Israel, it was conceived by the World Zionist Congress in 1905 and established in 1912 while under the dominion of the Ottoman Empire, making it the oldest university in Israel. It has long been considered the MIT of Israel. Technion is known as a global pioneer in such areas as energy, nanotechnology, and life science. Among its alums’ most well-known innovations are the USB memory stick, drip irrigation, instant messaging, and Iron Dome.
